Урок по темі "Recipes"7 клас


Objectives:
-- to revise the topic vocabulary
-- to develop students’ creative thinking
-- to develop students’ speaking and listening skills

Equipment: a textbook, presentation

I. Introduction
T: Well, pupils, our topic is “Cooking” and today we are going to cook our favorite dishes. There are many kinds of food and we can eat everything that we like. I hope you remember the well-known Ukrainian proverb “Всяк на свій смак”. There are some English equivalents to it:
n Tastes differ.
n Every man to his taste.
n Everyone to his own tastes.
n There is no accounting for tastes.
n One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

II. Warm up
     T: Would you like to listen to the poem “Who likes what”?
Some of us like brown bread,
Some of us like white,
Some of us eat a lot of meat,
Some don’t think it’s right.
Some of us like apples.
Some drink juice at night.
Some of us eat many sweets,
Some don’t think it’s right.

III. Main part

2)   While-Listening Activity
T: Listen to the text and say what ingredients a pancake consists of.

In a large bowl, sift together 150 grams of flour, 3 and 1\2 tablespoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in 300 ml of milk, an egg and 3 tablespoons of melted butter; mix until smooth.
Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

3)   Post-Listening Activity
     T: Listen to the text again and give instructions about cooking pancakes to the partner. Take turns.

4.    Reading
T: Read the recipe at the blackboard. Try to name this dish.

Take some potatoes, carrots, an onion, a beet and a cabbage.
Pour some water into the pan. Put some meat into the pan and boil it.
Wash the vegetables.
Peel the potatoes, carrots, a beet and an onion.
Cut potatoes into some pieces and add them into the boiling water.
Chop the onion.
Grate the carrots and a beet. Fry the carrot and beet with the onion.
Chop the cabbage.
Boil all vegetables together and add some tomato.

Your hometask is to write a recipe of your favourite food and present it in the class.

I.                  Introduction
T: Good morning, children! How are you getting on?
Today we’ll start learning how to speak about food and meals. That’s why you’ll have to remember and learn how to use the vocabulary, necessary for you to talk, to ask and answer about your food preferances, about cooking your favourite dishes and about meals with your family.

II.    Warm up
  
     Work in groups. Each group has three minutes to make the list of food and meals have come to your mind. Compare your lists.

III.   Main part
1.    Speaking
T: Work in pairs. Ask questions and get ready to represent your deskmate.
·       How many meals a day do you have?
·       What is your favourite food?
·       What is your favourite drink?
·       Do you take much sugar in tea and coffee?
·       How often do you drink fizzy drinks like Cola, Fanta or Sprite?
·       How often do you eat fresh fruit?


2.  Listening
     1) While - listening activity
       T: Listen to the text and write down names of American meals.

                                         American meals
     Americans do not like to prepare meals at home. They prefer to eat at cafes or restaurants. Usually they have three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. American breakfast, as a rule consists of butter, jam, bread or a roll. Usually people also eat cereal with milk, some cheese, soft-boiled eggs and drink orange juice, tea or coffee. Most of Americans do not come back home to lunch. they have it at Fast Food Restaurants. The most common menu consists of apple-pie, hamburger, cheeseburger, sandwiches. There are a lot of “fast food” shops to buy something to eat quickly. They are situated on many street corners. These sell hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks like Coca-Cola. For dinner they have meat, fried or baked potatoes with ketchup, corn peas and macaroni. In general many drinks are drunk with ice, even tea.

        Which of them do you never eat?
        Can you cook any of them?
        Choose one of the dishes from page 57 and say what ingredients are necessary to cook it.
    Now read descriptions A-H and match them with the pictures.
  2) Game “What Food is it?’’
  T: I tell you some information about food I am thinking about. And you ask me questions and try to guess.
Leader: This food is very fat. We usually have it with bread.
P1: Is it a meat product?
Leader: No.
P2: Is it a milk product?
Leader: No.
P3: Is it yellow?
Leader: Yes.
P4: Is it cheese?
Leader: No.
P5: Is it sweet?
Leader: No.
P6: Is it salty?
Leader: Sometimes.
P7: Is it butter?
Leader: Yes it is!
